Arkansas Local Food Network’s online market can help stock your kitchen year-round. Healthy, accessible local food and viable local farming operations are cornerstones of a more sustainable community. Additionally, locally-produced items offered through the site (body care products, teas, baked goods, milled products, candles and more) created by small cottage industries offer alternatives to purchasing these items from non-local sources. For added convenience, we also allow sales of high quality and organic bulk items through our site. These items are not locally grown unless specified in the product description, though we hope you appreciate the ability to obtain them through the website.
It’s not a CSA
Unlike other co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of stuff (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it), with our online market you get to order what you want, in the quantities that you want, from the farms that you want.
- Order conveniently from the comfort of your home computer by visiting the market page for the weeks offerings; or if need be by responding directly to the e-mail, or by phone. You will receive an email confirmation of your order.
- Know what you are purchasing with more information about the vendors, their practices and their products on our grower page.
Availability is flexible
The growers estimate how much of each item that will be able to harvest a week ahead of time. This takes both skill and practice. Even so, unpredictable factors can make the difference between having a bumper crop or a very small harvest. Please exercise patience with farmers as the conditions of the field can change between the weekend and harvest time.
How it works
You’ll need to sign up for an account here.
You may pay via cash, check, or credit or debit card when you pick up your order or pay online with your credit or debit card when you place your order.
Ordering is weekly from Sunday at noon through Wednesday at noon. After you’ve set up an account, you’ll receive an email notifying you that products are available. Please visit our site and place your orders before noon on Wednesday. You may pick up your order on Saturday between 10:00AM and 12:00PM, or the following Monday, 5:00PM to 6:00PM, at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 6th and Scott Street in downtown Little Rock.
Arkansas Local Food Network membership fees not only help to make our online market happen, but also help support other very worthy community projects. Membership is $60 per year, or $7.50 per month. If membership isn’t for you, you can purchase as an “Occasional Shopper”. Occasional shoppers pay an additional 5% on all products. If you plan on making a large purchase or shopping more than once a month, we recommend saving with a membership.
Farmers donate 13% of their sales to assist in covering market costs. This makes you – the member – the financial backbone of our program. We appreciate you and we encourage you to contact us anytime with feedback or ideas of how we can keep up the good work!
